1. Who is Lockton Affinity, LLC?

Headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, Lockton Affinity, LLC is an affiliate of Lockton Companies, the largest privately held commercial insurance broker in the United States. 2. What is the name of the State Bar Association’s endorsed professional liability insurer and the company’s financial size, rating, and presence in the lawyers’ malpractice marketplace?

The ISBA Governing Board voted unanimously to endorse Continental Casualty Company, a member of CNA, rated A (Excellent) by A.M. Best. CNA has over $9 Billion in annual revenues and a statutory surplus of over $10 Billion. It is the largest provider of lawyers’ malpractice insurance nationwide, insuring over 150,000 lawyers.

3. Are the people employed by Lockton Affinity, LLC knowledgeable about Lawyers’ malpractice insurance?

Yes, all our teams are trained to understand the unique risks lawyers face, including the evolving risks for firms operating in today’s modern legal landscape. The Lockton Affinity ISBA Insurance Program has solutions tailored to meet the exact needs of Iowa lawyers and their firms, and the individuals representing Lockton Affinity, LLC have considerable experience with this specialized coverage.

4. What is CNA’s claims handling experience?

CNA has over 50 years experience in defending Lawyers’ Professional Liability claims. It has dedicated professional liability claim team members, the great majority of whom are lawyers themselves and have an average of 15 years experience in Lawyers’ Professional Liability claim resolution and litigation experience. There is a separate team that provides oversight on larger or complex claims. Insureds receive claim acknowledgement within 24 hours of reporting a claim. Claim team members are dedicated to keeping the Insured abreast of the strategy and details of the claim.

5. Does CNA offer Risk Control Services?

CNA offers Risk Control services and resources to its Insureds, including:

• A dedicated Risk Control Hotline staffed by CNA risk management lawyers
• Live Risk Control presentations providing Iowa-approved CLE credits
• Practice Guides addressing both general and specific practice management concerns
• Topics that focus on activities that directly impact malpractice claim experience

6. What do I need to do to get a quote?

To get a quote, simply contact the ISBA Insurance Program, administered by Lockton Affinity, at (800) 679.7154 ninety (90) days prior to the expiration of your current policy. Due to the cancellation penalties contained in your policy, we do not recommend mid-term cancellations.
